Our aims
Our aim is to develop the role of the arts in supporting recovery focused care and to promote mental wellbeing. We aim to support individuals receiving health and social care services to access mainstream arts activity across Leeds.
Our values
- Mental health is fundamental to health and wellbeing
- People who use health services have a valuable perspective from their own experience. Their views, needs and aspirations should be at the centre of arts and wellbeing developments. They should be involved and lead arts activity and projects wherever possible.
- The arts can contribute to a positive culture within health and social care services that values the whole person.
- Participation in arts and creative activities promote wellbeing and recovery as well as building confidence, self-esteem, social inclusion and participation.
- The arts encompasses a broad spectrum of activity and we aim to embrace this diversity and promote choice.
- The arts can contribute to improving health and social care environments thus promoting a sense of wellbeing and supporting recovery.
- A partnership approach adds value by bringing together people who receive services, carers, arts organisations, health professionals, voluntary sector together in arts activities. Partnerships build trust, mutual understanding and an ability to make the most of the resources we have for the benefit of service users and carers.
- Partnerships should value and respect the different strengths, values and approaches that each participant brings and should not undermine individual or organisational autonomy or their sustainability. Initiatives to secure resources should always seek to add value to the network as a whole.
- The impact of the arts on improving wellbeing and recovery should be continually evaluated to build a local evidence base.
- Participation in the network and the steering group should be both enjoyable, fun and beneficial to both individuals and organisations
